Kindnod

Switch from Cookiebot

Total time: about ten minutes. Visitors who already answered Cookiebot's banner are not asked again.

1. Add your site in Kindnod

Paste the domain. Kindnod detects the Cookiebot tag, reads your Cookiebot id from it, and pulls the public cookie declaration Cookiebot renders for that id. Your cookies land in the Cookies tab, grouped by category, editable. If your banner had custom text, it is copied.

2. Export your consent log from Cookiebot

Regulators expect an unbroken record. In Cookiebot: Settings → Consent log → Export. Download the CSV before you cancel: dashboard access ends with the billing period. Keep it with your compliance records. Kindnod starts a new log from the moment its tag goes live.

3. Swap the tag

Remove:

<script id="Cookiebot" src="https://consent.cookiebot.com/uc.js" data-cbid="…" data-blockingmode="auto" type="text/javascript"></script>

Add:

<script src="https://kindnod.com/kindnod.js" data-site="YOUR_SITE_KEY" async></script>

Leave everything else alone. Kindnod understands Cookiebot's markup and API:

| Cookiebot thing | What Kindnod does | |---|---| | type="text/plain" data-cookieconsent="statistics" | Released when statistics is granted | | data-cookieblock-src on iframes and images | Loaded when the category is granted | | window.Cookiebot.consent.marketing etc. | Same properties, same values | | CookiebotOnAccept, CookiebotOnDecline, CookiebotOnConsentReady, CookiebotOnDialogDisplay | Dispatched on window | | Cookiebot.show(), renew(), withdraw(), submitCustomConsent() | Implemented | | GTM events cookie_consent_statistics, cookie_consent_marketing, cookie_consent_preferences, cookie_consent_update | Pushed to dataLayer | | <script id="CookieDeclaration"> placeholder | Kindnod renders its table right after it | | The CookieConsent cookie on returning visitors | Read and adopted (carry-over) |

4. Verify and cancel

Click Verify my site. Kindnod confirms its tag is live and warns if Cookiebot's tag is still there. Then cancel Cookiebot.

About carry-over

Cookiebot stores each visitor's decision in a first-party cookie named CookieConsent. Kindnod reads the four category booleans from it and applies the same choices, recording the event as carried in your log. Most privacy counsel accept this when the categories and purposes are identical, which they are by default. If yours prefers a fresh consent, turn Carry over Cookiebot consents off in the Design tab.

What Kindnod does not do

IAB TCF. If your site sells programmatic ad inventory in the EEA or UK through AdSense or Ad Manager, Google requires a TCF-registered, Google-certified CMP. Kindnod is not one yet. Stay on Cookiebot for those sites.
